European Folk Art Rocking Horse   Dating to the early–mid 20th century a hand carved European folk art rocking horse with bags of personality and a beautifully worn painted surface. The bold black ground is lifted with hand-painted harness detailing and a wonderfully decorative saddle, now delightfully timeworn with layers of colour peeking through from years gone by. The naïve carving, elongated stance and simple rocker base all point to a vernacular European origin, giving it far more charm and individuality than later factory-made examples. At 84cm high and nearly 90cm wide, it’s a great scale too, big enough to make a statement without dominating a room, a genuine decorative antique with real presence.
